Job Category: Non exempt intern, 20 - 30 hours/week
Time Period: June 1, 2017 - September 30, 2017

Salary: $18 - $20/hour, depending on experience
Our Mission: Hack the Hood provides real-world, hands-on learning opportunities and mentorship that help low-income youth of color learn the skills and form the relationships they need to chart a course towards 21st century careers in online technology and social media.
Our Program: In our 6-week boot camps, youth receive training in basic computer skills, web marketing and promotion, basic coding skills, search engine optimization (SEO), and website development, which they then use to build mobile-responsive web sites and listings for real small business clients.
Hack the Hood is committed to making more data-informed decisions. In 2015, an evaluation framework was launched to measure the impact of the boot camp program on youth and small business clients, which will help inform future program and curriculum iterations. 2016 saw the expansion of our impact through partnerships with organizations in northern California. Continuing our partnerships in 2017, we aim to share the results of our evaluation activities with organizational stakeholders, funders and partners to report on impact and lessons learned. The Evaluation Intern will be supporting the following priorities for evaluation & data collection activities in Oakland and partner sites (impact & process evaluations); data cleaning, analysis, reporting, and building research to support program development and operations. The intern will also have the opportunity to propose and execute and independent project related to our work as part of their internship.
Strong candidates will have an alignment with Hack the Hood's mission, comfort in working with a wide range of people and experiences, and strong, demonstrated interest in evaluation, analytics and or telling stories through data. Experience with storytelling, system mapping and/or data visualization a plus, but not required.
Given the local housing market, we strongly recommend that potential candidates have housing secured for duration of the program before they apply.
