![]() JOIN HACK THE HOOD AT PENROSE FOR SOME GREAT EATS, DRINKS AND FUN, JULY 19th, 5:30-10:00 PM Are you someone who appreciates good food and community? Do you enjoy eating locally and supporting small local businesses? Do you care about equity and providing access to good jobs for all young people in Oakland and across the Bay area? If your answers to these questions are yes, I have the perfect event for you! Charlie Hallowell, owner of Oakland’s scene-setting restaurants: Pizzaiolo, Boot & Shoe, and Penrose, all of which serve locally sourced food and delicious libations, has launched his second series of Sunday Suppers and has picked Hack the Hood to be the series’ first cause celebre for the season. Penrose’s Sunday Supper, July 19, 2015, 5:30-10:00 PM, will be an open seating night at the restaurant—and for this night only, Penrose will donate ALL profits from snacks, meals, drinks, and dessert to Hack the Hood There will even be a signature Sunday Sunday cocktail for the evening, all proceeds for enjoying this drink will go directly to Hack the Hood. Not only that, Oakland’s own saxophonist Tony Peebles will entertain us with his music. This is an amazing chance for you come out and show your support as a member of the Hack the Hood community. I’ll be there, along with Hack the Hood staffers to eat, groove, and mingle with you, as will some of our boot camp graduates, including Francis X Sanson who designed the Sunday Suppers website. Part of what makes Sunday Suppers possible—in addition to the great generosity of Penrose, its staff, and Charlie’s entire organization—are the donations provided by a growing list of local farms, wineries, distilleries, and other local purveyors, including Say Hay Farms,Riverdog Farm, Feral Heart Farm, Mezcal La Palabra, and more. We love how everyone is working together to build community and local economic empowerment...more of that, please. The Hack the Hood team will on hand and will be accepting check and cash donations throughout the evening, in support of our funding for youth stipends. There will also be some surprise giveaways.
