Tiffany Lorraine Shumate is the Executive Director of Hack the Hood. She has over a decade of experience in social profit management, scaling quality programs, and building high-performing teams for youth-serving organizations. She defines herself as an educator committed to leveraging technology and business to drive access for underrepresented communities. Tiffany brings her passion for designing accessible learning spaces and leading teams to her work at Hack the Hood. Prior to joining the Hack the Hood team, Tiffany served as the founding Senior Director of University Programs at AI4ALL, where she led expansion from 6 to 16 universities internationally and oversaw the alumni program, curriculum design, and student recruitment. In her transition to education tech, she served as the Founding Regional Director at Black Girls CODE, where she managed expansion and programming for 6 U.S. sites and in Johannesburg, South Africa. Tiffany is a proud Newark, NJ native, and lives in Oakland, CA. She’s an alumna of Bryn Mawr College and is currently nerding out at UC Berkeley-Haas School of Business, discovering how to design financially sustainable social profits. Outside of work, Tiffany enjoys yoga, Lake Merritt barbecues, and is an art museum enthusiast.
